All in-person proctored exams administered by Certivance must be conducted under strict testing rules to ensure exam security and integrity.
These rules apply to all proctored exams, regardless of exam type, format (paper or digital), or issuing organization. Failure to follow exam rules may result in dismissal from the exam or invalidation of results.
You must present one valid photo ID with a signature to take a proctored exam.
Accepted forms of ID include:
Driver’s license
State-issued ID
Passport
Military ID
School or employee ID (must include a photo and signature)
Photocopies, photos, or expired IDs are not accepted.
Learners without valid ID will not be permitted to test.
On exam day, learners are required to:
Present valid photo ID to the proctor
Sign the Examinee Entry/Exit Log
Store all personal belongings away from the testing area
Sit in an assigned seat as directed by the proctor
Review and agree to exam use and conduct rules
Wait for the proctor’s instruction before beginning the exam
Starting early, leaving without permission, or failing to follow instructions may invalidate the exam.
You are responsible for bringing:
Your valid photo ID
If permitted by the exam provider, you may also bring:
A bilingual dictionary (only if English is not your primary language)
Dictionary rules (when allowed):
Must be a bound book
No handwritten notes or inserts
Electronic or app-based dictionaries are not permitted
The proctor will inspect dictionaries before the exam
Food, drinks, phones, notes, calculators, bags, and personal items are not allowed in the testing area unless explicitly approved.
Exam length and time limits are determined by the issuing program.
Most proctored exams allow up to 2 hours to complete
Extended time (up to 3 hours) may be available with approved accommodations
Learners must follow the time limits communicated by the proctor on exam day
Restroom breaks may be permitted at the proctor’s discretion
Only one learner may leave the room at a time
Personal items may not be accessed during breaks
Leaving the testing room without authorization may result in exam termination
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
Talking or communicating during the exam
Sharing, copying, or recording exam content
Using unauthorized materials or devices
Attempting to reproduce or disclose exam questions
Violations may result in:
Immediate dismissal from the exam
Invalid exam results
Restrictions on future testing
Accommodation requests must be approved in advance.
Learners requiring accommodations must:
Notify Certivance in advance so accommodations can be coordinated on exam day
Unapproved accommodations cannot be provided at the exam site.
All exam materials must be returned to the proctor before leaving
Exam results and certificates are issued by the exam provider, not Certivance
Instructions for accessing results are provided on or after exam day
Retesting eligibility, waiting periods, and attempt limits are governed by the issuing exam provider.
