Certivance offers the ServSafe
Food Protection Manager Certification Examination in a traditional paper format. Paper exams are administered in person and supervised by certified Instructors/Proctors in accordance with official ServSafe
and National Restaurant Association proctoring policies.

or the National Restaurant Association. We are authorized Instructors/Proctors and strictly follow their required procedures.
Valid photo ID
Government-issued or school-issued ID is required
Photocopies are not accepted
All other required materials — including pencils and exam booklets — are provided by Certivance.
Check-In: Sign in upon arrival and present your photo ID
Training & Exam: The class concludes with the ServSafe
exam, proctored on site
Your instructor will review exam rules and procedures before testing begins
Arrival: Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time
Late arrivals may not be admitted
Check-In: Present your photo ID and sign the Examinee Entry/Exit Log
Personal belongings (phones, bags, notes, calculators) must be stored away
Follow all proctor instructions before opening your sealed exam booklet
Use only the #2 pencils provided
Fill in answer bubbles completely — stray marks may affect scoring
90 multiple-choice questions
Standard time: 2 hours
Maximum time: 3 hours with approved accommodations
Passing score: 75% or higher
No talking, sharing, or accessing personal items during the exam
Learners requiring accommodations must request approval in advance through ServSafe
’s official process.
Return all exam materials to the proctor before leaving
Exam results are typically available within 10 business days
Digital certificates are issued by ServSafe
Learners may create or log into a ServSafe
account and enter the Exam Session ID provided on exam day to view results
Printed or laminated certificates are not included and may be purchased separately through Certivance if desired
If you are unable to attend your scheduled class or exam, contact Certivance in advance.
Rescheduling is subject to Certivance’s official Enrollment Policy.
If you do not pass the exam:
Up to two attempts within 30 days
A 60-day waiting period is required after two failed attempts
Maximum of four attempts within a 12-month period
Additional fees apply for retests
All retesting rules are governed by ServSafe
policy.
