Everything you need to know before tackling the ServSafe Manager exam.

How many questions are on the exam?

The ServSafe® Manager exam has 90 multiple-choice questions.

  • 80 are scored

  • 10 are unscored (practice) questions


What score do I need to pass?

A passing score is 70% or higher. That means you must answer at least 56 of the 80 scored questions correctly.


How many can I get wrong?

You can miss up to 24 scored questions and still pass.


What type of questions are on the exam?

All questions are multiple-choice, with one correct answer per question.


How long do I have to take the exam?

You’ll have up to 2 hours to complete the exam.


What if I fail?

  • You may retake the exam, but retesting rules apply.

  • Each retake requires purchasing a new exam.


How do I prepare?

Most learners succeed by:
