We're not lawyers—just friendly helpers! 🍻 This document isn’t intended to serve as legal advice. Alcohol laws are like recipes—every city, county, and state has its own unique regulations. For the most accurate guidance on local rules, reach out to your state liquor control board (they're the real experts here). While Certivance provides resources and keeps an eye on state-level regulations, always double-check with your local authorities—because even the best need a second opinion! 😉

State Training Program:

The Responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Program (RASP) in North Carolina is an initiative by the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Commission aimed at promoting responsible alcohol service and ensuring compliance with state laws. This program offers free in-person training sessions for business owners, managers, and employees, focusing on key areas such as preventing sales to underage and intoxicated individuals, recognizing acceptable forms of identification, understanding dram shop laws, and protecting both the business and the public.

In addition to the in-person sessions, the ABC Commission provides a free online training course covering basic information regarding alcohol sales and service laws in North Carolina. This online course is recommended for all employees prior to selling or serving alcoholic beverages in the state.

While participation in RASP is not mandatory, the ABC Commission strongly encourages all alcohol-serving establishments to take advantage of this training. Engaging in RASP not only helps prevent violations but also serves as evidence of responsible alcohol service practices, which can be beneficial in the event of an investigation or legal proceedings. By participating in RASP, businesses demonstrate a commitment to responsible alcohol service, thereby enhancing public safety and reducing the risk of alcohol-related incidents.
